Speedo, a globally acclaimed swimwear brand, was established in 1914 at Bondi Beach. They manufacture not only swimwear but also accessories like watches and performance-enhancing items. High-performing athletes frequently sport Speedo products at major competitions, including the Olympics, benefiting from their sponsorships of swimmers and international teams. Additionally, Speedo has formed a partnership with 'British Swimming,' a testament to the supreme quality of their products. 

Speedo approached Magellan with a request for custom video boxes to complement their latest FastSkin collection, intended for distribution to professional swimmers. Each box was to be personalized with a message, tailored specifically for the recipient. They aimed to use video boxes as an innovative way to showcase their collection, seeking a design that was both visually striking and practically functional. The boxes needed to be sufficiently large yet aesthetically appealing to accommodate two swimming caps, one swimsuit, and a pair of goggles. 

 

Target Market 

Speedo's target market includes individuals who are passionate about swimming and motivated to improve their athletic performance, regardless of their professional level. They provide a diverse range of swimwear that is not only comfortable but also features appealing designs. 

 

Merchandise 

The merchandise included in the custom video packaging features items from Speedo's newest FastSkin collection. This collection, which is being distributed globally, includes a pair of goggles, two swimming caps, and a swimming suit, each specifically tailored to the recipient. By sending this promotional merchandise to professional swimmers, Speedo aims to elevate its brand visibility and showcase its collection to a broader audience, thereby improving the likelihood of purchase by others. This approach underscores the use of the merchandise as a strategic marketing tool.

 

End Result

The final outcome of this project was the creation of luxurious 7-inch video screen boxes, featuring four distinct compartments to accommodate the items. The exterior was finished with anti-scuff matte lamination and spot UV, adorned with a honeycomb print, and included a personalized message for the recipients. Additionally, the boxes featured the motivational phrase "you are made for this," aimed specifically at racing athletes. This element of the promotional video boxes aligned exactly with Speedo's initial vision, perfectly encapsulating their intended message and target audience.
